ANSWER: As much as possible, brokers get accreditation directly from the developer or owner of the property. A broker will only subject himself to become an affiliate broker of a primary broker in three instances: (1) when the primary broker holds an exclusive listing/agency agreement with the developer/owner; (2) when the affiliate broker works inside the firm owned by the primary broker, or (3) when the affiliate broker and primary broker forms part of a bigger network of brokers who share listings, information, referrals, and resources.
