Protecting the Privacy of the Client

QUESTION: Sir John, how do Real Estate Brokers protect the security of high-profile real estate buyers and sellers?

ANSWER: We, Brokers, do not disclose the identity of our clients to anyone unless the client gives permission. The PNP Safety Advisory on Kidnapping says "avoid stating your identity in ads posted when selling a large property, this attracts unnecessary attention to your wealth". Even after the sale is consumated, we do not easily disclose the identities of our clients to anyone if we determine that the requester does not need the information in his/her ordinary course of business.
